#1 Any one have experience with car alarms?
subwoffers Posted on: 2005/11/14 0:29
Hey there guys, Christmas is fast approching and was thinking about buying a Car alarm over boxing day sell. I never knew the area i lived was so rough so ive desided to try and have a super sensitive alarm installed. ( Broken in twice, Car was completey stolen once, tried to open doors once)

I have never really looked closly at how they work.
My question is , has anyone here gotten one installed? and is it even possible on such a old car with door mechanism unlike most cars?

All you need, i think, is a shock sensor and a remote, most shock sensors have veriable sensitivity so you can make the alarm go off if a loud car drives past or only if somone jumps on the bonnet. You arm and dis-arm the alarm with a reomte. These are not immobilisers and do nothin but make a loud noise whn tripped.

you can get soilnoids that will pull your door lock buttons down...they are heaps fiddly to put in and make work but it can be done....and its sooo cool to walk up to an old car and have it go 'beep beep'.... the next thing you need is remote start....haha.

That is the problem, on my b10 there is no knob to push down. The hadel for teh doors doubles as teh lock. Pull it towards you to open, Push it to lock! haha

Another thing is how many shock sensors can you get from a kit? Im guessing the more the better

i have an alarm, immobiliser, wheel movement sensors and shock sensors in my 1200 ute. i had the option of getting central locking also put in 4 $100. It can be done. you can buy packages which include instillation. The shops also say that nearly every car no matter wat sort can be fitted with and alarm. go ask a pro and they will tell you if its possible. Good luck

MAKING A CHEEP CAR ALARM
you will need > a seperate horn that works one flasher can and for door switchs and something to mount the horn on such as fibreglass so its not earthed , a fuse and a on/off switch
mount the horn where its hard to get and its not earthed then run the earth to the door switchs you will have to mount .
Then with the +possitive side from the battery place the fuse as close to the battery as possible then connect the on/off switch obviously where its hard to find .
then you can run the + to the flasher can and wire it to the horn .....

FLICK YOUR SWITCH ON AND OPEN THE DOORS AND YOUR HIDDEN HORN SHOULD BEEP OFF ITS HEAD OFF
