Well I saw a news story that Nissan "is" moving everything to Tennesse and the Gardena Ca offices will be gone by 2008.
The story also showed some 07 models that looked cool. Goshn sited the tax benefits of going to Tennesse , this doesn't suprise me given the situation in California. We'll see if the staff migrates to other SoCal car companies now. Now of course if I were a designer in SoCal and sold my house for one in Tennesse I would have big bucks left over and could retire early.

yeah the cost of living is way way cheaper here in the southeast.

The fact still remains that more people want to move to SoCal than want to leave despite the cost of living or astronomical house prices.

It's sad what is happening to california. Things are broken here and it's not getting better. We just had that special election and all the propositions to stop spending more money than the state has failed. The people simply want the state to spend more money than it has, they don't want to raise taxes, and there are a zillion groups wanting 'more money' the policies of the state are very anti business, and pro-social services, and we have lots of people needing government services, but that's another problem...

I don't know what will happen to the design of cars, I haven't liked where hey are going in years. I don't know that there is any one place with he defining car culture anymore.

Sleeper, remember that they design Nissans at NDI here in San Diego and that place ain't going nowheres. (Too bad, 'cause they've done some of the weirdest and ugliest stuff.)

They must figure there is some kinda finacial gai in moving or it wouldn't be issue.

Sleeper on the services note;Many Californians who come here to Nevada view us as heartless becuase we simple refuse to pay for anything but the minimum , sometimes not even that. The low taxes are why folks move here....drives activists on all sides crazy.
Matt I thought the same thing about the design group moving......maybe I just don't get it but the current crop of Nissans all seem to have those high sharp wheel arches making them look like oragami cars or they look like eggs on wheels. When I bought the Protoge ES I would have bought a Sentra SE-R but just didn't like the look, perhaps they were going for that mini Jag S type thing but it was lost on me. I like my old Volvo and listen to punk rock , can't get much more off center than that.....still I do not get what they are aiming for.
Well at least they will save big bucks on taxes down south so maybe we will get some Renault influenced cars

It's a safe bet that if you like a Nissan then it wasn't designed at NDISD.

Yes the wife will be in the market for a new Mini-Van but the Nissan is like some oragami insect on wheels.....won't be getting one of those. Have not seen anything that awful since the corrugated slap side eclipse.(there, with two of us maybe a lurker will reply with what they were trying to create).
