i am just wondering if i need to use these trx wheel nuts if i am going to put the trx rims on my 79' 1200 ute or can i just use the standard ones?

Put this in the MAIN part and I think you will get more help.

I don't think you do as long as the standard ones fit.

The extended skirt below the taper is intended to compensate for the additional thickness of the wheel. This way you will engage the proper amount of thread.
The factory made them this way for a reason. These nuts were used on 200B SX models as well as on most alloy wheels on Bluebirds, so check the wreckers as I have picked up quite a few from under cars when the wheels were sold off & the nuts left behind.
