hey i just changed the fuel pump.... car turns over now.... but it has some back fire coming from the carbie. the car wont idle on itself, but it sounds good at high revs. would i just need to clean the jets of the carbie? (the car had no fuel for a few weeks so it might have just sucked up some filthy fuel or something?). could there be anything else causing it?
cheers shaun

If I remember rightly, you have a stock 1200 engine in there.
If this is true, then see if you can pick up a Gregories manual for the 1000/ 1200 from ebay. They are very cheap these days. Once you have it, use it to guide you through a full tine up. It also has a troubleshooting section & it will be the best thing that you ever buy for this car.

Yeah, try cleaning the carb jets, new fuel filter, new plugs, have a look at the points/dissy cap.
Also check you haven't got the firing order wrong (this will cause backfiring out the carb)
