I have to ask what car you bought that is more reliable than a Datsun 1200,as they would have to be one of the most simple, durable, and reliable cars ever built.

Not to mention economic to own & run. As for reliability, well that's entirely up to the owner. Do the right thing to your Datsun & it will be as reliable as the morning sunrise, & that's never failed us yet.
If you do your own maintainance on a 1200, i would think that even today, there is not likely to be a 'recent' model car that can match it for cost of ownership per mile.

Perhaps his datto was modified....losing the 'reliable' part. And he also said he wanted something modern, which is sort of the reason I don't drive a datto anymore.
I am however building one(slowly)....like I said "you'll be back"

alright fine u all got me...there really isnt anything more simple or as good as a datto. I got 3850 for it but still have a A12 4spd gearbox and a 1200 ute tailshaft left if anyone is interested. My ute wasnt modified either sorry guys, but as i only JUST turned 18 today i am on a tight budget and can't afford to keep fixing up all the bugs that mine had so..i sold it. I will definately be back when i get a bigger wallet, and thats a promise. If i did make my datto comeback it would def. be in a MODIFIED 1600 or another 1200 ute.
