Wiring up a Bosch HEC715 Coil

Hi just having a bit of difficulty wiring up this new Bosch HEC715 coil to replace the standard ignition coil in my 1200 coupe.
I have a Bluebird series 2 distributor that I bought from Ferrol Errol at Datrats which is easy to connect to the coil with the two wires going to + and - on the coil but am unsure how to wire the coil to the car ![]()

It's no different to wiring up a standard coil..surely.
positive.. and negative..and the hot coil lead to the distributor.. black wires to one side red ones to the + ![]() As for how it wires up to Bluebird distributor, there might be a few extra wires.. I'd have a look at the Bluebird S2 handbook. Might require a trip to a 2nd hand book shop or library. If its a 12V coil, you just need to remove the 'run' position dropping resistor, and replace it with a bit of wire with two male spade connectors. The dropping resistor stops the coil getting hot and burning out during a long drive. Many second hand Dattos are running 12V to their coil all of the time. This is what makes them unreliable. Don't trash the standard wiring, someone might want to go back to a standard coil someday. On second thoughts: I'd leave the dropping resistor and only bypass it if you are having ignition problems at high revs, or are running a turbo setup where the spark can be blown out.

hmmm it's just that Errol from Datrats told me not to use a ballast resistor so I thought the whole wiring set up would be different now?
