there was a little interest in a new year datto cruise for melbourne earlier, so figured i'd get the ball rolling ....
1... dat fans seem to want more of a formal event these days 2... bbq, sit around and talk datsuns seems the way to go 3... find a park with adequate parking for a small concorse type set up, and bbq facility 4... something around the immediate melbourne area should be easy enough for everyone ............. this is what i've come up with - Albert Park Lake - Melways 2K J-12 Footscray Park - Melways 2S H-4 Brimbank Park, Keilor - Melways 14 J-9 Cherry Lake, Altona - Melways 54 H-9 Garden City/Port Melb - Melways 56 G-3 these are only suggestions, and if anyone knows of a better location feel free to put it in. date : I reckon end of february would be good - 25th or 26th - doesn't clash with the nats and leaves a weekend between for those who are making the trip north so come on guys and gals put in your thoughts and show your enthusiasm THESE ARE THE REVISED DETAILS : 10:30am Sunday 5th March 2006 BBQ meet up at Cherry Lake, Altona, Melway ref Map 54 H-9. byo BBQ and drinks for a feed and a bout of banter

Albert park is a good idea - very central as it is quite close to the city.
With 'burbs in all directions from melbourne (except for due south) - gathering in or close to the city are a good idea. I'm keen to attend, and I wont feel so bad hanging around at a BBQ, as I'll be turning up in a Ford, the little Datto is still without motor.....

part 3's sorted - 'find a park with adequate parking for a small concorse type set up, and bbq facility'
location - Albert Park Lake - Melways 2K J-12 ange - you only going for the weekend ?? date can be moved to 1st weekend of march ?? 120fly - not too sure about the parken stuff, but gas boats still run on cherry lake, half a matre of fibreglass skimmin across the water at near 100kmh is pretty impressive even if they do sound like giant mozzies on speed
