#1 'un-safe' safety belt
sam1741 Posted on: 2006/1/26 9:20
hi all..

like other B310 around
i think the safety belt same for the dats around the world?

mine got written something like 'brimat' or something... aid its auto-retract type (not the fixed type in B110)

the thing is i feel the button is a bit tight
so i spray a bit WD40 into it

then now the problem come

sometimes during driving...
the belit will automatically comes off.. due to pulling..

if i clip it and pull real hart with my hand.. it will come off also.. :(

why is it.. unsafe after i use WD40?
anyone have similar experience?
is there any way to make it safe again...?

thanks in advance for opinion and suggestions.

it has most likely got grit in it, if you remove the buckle completely, hold upside down and respray more WD40 inside while working it a bit, do this a few times and retry. if it still plays up, replace it SAFETY FIRST!!

The solution is simple, if they don't work, & can't be fixed, then, as has already been said, replace them. There is no other way.

Lap type belts are as good as useless as they are cleverly designed to hold your hips in place while you smash your face & head into something unpleasant. Replace these with lap/ sash types otherwise you have safety belts that are unsafe by design.
