#1 Website Updated - 4 New Nostalgic Hero Articles

Hey peeps, been meaning to do this for ages...

I have scanned 3 different Datsun 1000 Coupe articles and one Tomei 1200 Coupe historic Race car article and uploaded them to my website.

They are large and brimming with detail!!!

Read up (if you speak Japanese, otherwise you'll just have to look at the eye-candy pictures like the rest of us!!! )

HERE

Damn I want that race car!!!

Oh man, that's just the sort of colour that I had in mind for my car when I was agonising over what colour to paint it. This is just beautifull.
I finally decided against it when I tried to visualise what it would look like with the black vinyl top. I felt that the two just would not go together.
The dark colour allows the chrome bumper to stand out & give the rear end really good form & definition & it eliminates that fat arse look of bumperless cars.

If I can match this one for looks, I will be a very happy man as it's a class act all the way.

This one is badged as a GL [Grande Luxe] The car you drive when De-Luxe just isn't enough.
KB10, the car you always wanted.

With Chassis Number KB10-062026, this one's a '69.

Well, I had a look at the Nostalgic Hero/ Tomei racer in Terrys website & noticed a couple of interesting things.

This 1200 engine uses the Tomei alloy oil pan [naturally] I noticed that it is highly polished, something that I was strongly advised not to do to mine. Presumeably Tomei never had a problem.

The 1300 refered to on the rocker cover tells me that this engine has the Tomei 76.76mm forged pistons. These came with the 17.5mm pins & they are in all probability attached to the titanium rods that were made for these engines.
This bore size gives a displacement of 1296cc which fits just nicely inside the 1300 cc capacity limit. Quite obviously they knew just how thick those cylinder walls were right from day one.
This engine just drips with all the best goodies that were made for them.

Now how would this go with a slightly more streetable cam, in a streetable car. [Paradise to Perth, Cannonball anyone?]

EDIT After studying the text, it becomes apparent that this engine has a bore of 76.85mm for a displacement of 1298cc. That's shaving it close.

This race car is brand new - If I had it I wouldn't want to race it!

Re these articles - I want to try some Japanese OCR software for my scanner. If it can pick up the characters I can plug it into a translator to get a rough idea about what the text says...

Anybody tried this before?

There's just so much to love about this one that it's hard to know where to start.
One of the nice touches is the JAF badge & I am trying to get one of these for my coupe.

It looks just right on the grille of a KB10.

Yes I'd like a JAF badge too. One was on eBay usa, but went for a hefty price. They are occasionally on Yahoo! Auction Japan.

I stopped at a wrecking yard in Japan hoping they'd let me look at the cars (for items like this) but it turned out to be one of those places where they are not too friendly (as are some yards here in USA).

Yes! It works well. You ideally need 600 dpi scans, but with 300 dpi it can be done but you may have to correct some parts. I only tried a trial version, so can't really recommend a particular one.

Well, I expected a little competition for this one, but amazingly, it went for much less than I thought it would.
That's another small step for Datkind.

This is the badge,.. refered to in my previous post in this thread, that I was trying to get.
