hi there can anyone advise on importing vehicles from nz to qld and comlpiance requirements as my family are moving to qld and would like to import our datsun 1200 coupes

good question, the best people would be to call Queensland deptartment of transport and speak to them..

the cars are already complied in australia so regestration isnt a problem ,An engineers report and a compliance plate should see you regestered in australia .

you need to contact DOTARS (Department of Transport and regional services i think is its official name) You have to apply for personal importation of the vehicles but you can only do this is you have lived and owned the cars overseas for a minimum of 12months. you have to prove these criteria to them. But as the cars are older than jan 1 1989, it should be no real drama... improt them later but bu your self a cheap import over in newzealand (EVO or STI or similar) and sell it here later for a profit! You guys get imports so cheap there...
oh almost forgot kiwi bashing jokes, get a cold one from the chili bin bro... choice cuz (should fit in well in Qld or South Aus)
