#1 1000 Dif
ddienes Posted on: 2006/9/20 23:14
Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a diff suited for a 1000 sedan/coupe? (I think the dif in the ute is different) I live in Adelaide SA.

Thanks

The differential from a passenger model 1200 will fit directly into the Datsun 1000 rear axle housing as both are H145's.

The ratio of the 1200 diff is 3.9 to 1 while your Coupe's original ratio is 4.11 to 1

The rear axle assembly from a 1200 is about 2-1/2" [65mm] wider than the 1000 & this is enough to mess with wheel & tyre clearance in a small car like our 1000's, so this is not really an option in most cases.

I called the wreckers to get a 1200 diff for my 1000 and they said there are 4 or 5 different types of flanges... Im not to sure what he meant by this. What flange should I ask for?

Thanks

Tell them you want a diff center from a B110 -- 1971-1973 "Datsun 1200". They all use the same flange.

Later 1200s (B210 and B310) use a different flange, as does newer Datsun 1200 ute (B120).
