what to do? (diff and brakes)

i am thinking about buying a 1200 sedan but the problem with it is that it has a broken oil line and the guy who ownes it at the moment said that he got some 17's for it but it had adaptor plates and on of the bolts wasnt tightened properly and it got in between the wheel and brake and wrecked it all (i dont see how as it is a drum brake) but anyway i was wondering what way is the easyest to get it back to working conditon.
ive got plans for it so a hilux diff might be in order but im not sure what would need to be done for it to fix and if i could find one that doesnt need shortening (is the same lenth as the standard 1200 diff) as i dont have that much money at the moment. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I will suggest, have a look at the car itself... if the body itself is in a good condition, then take it, regardless of what the machanical issues are.... those can easily be taken care of....ether by replacing the diff, or whatever, completely, as you said... or just the parts... hell even a complete engine swop will come out less than having to do some major body\rust repairs..
m2c if the body is all rusted or smashed up, then it's more of an problem to get the car respectable again...

yea suppose, the body is good (had a paintjob a little while ago bit it) but it has one dent in it but it isnt a major problem as my mate is a penelbeater and a door shouldnt be hard to find
