A15 engine mods

Hi, everyone in the Datsun 1200 Club. Remember that I had posted a while back that my beloved Datsun 210/B210 was involved in a very serious head on collision (Sorry, about the photos. Still haven't finished the roll I have.) Well, I have been away from the site because I was busy locating and obtaining the parts that I need to fix my car. I have save up a total of $850 to spend on the car. The hood, driver side fender, front bumper, headlight mount and headlight, and radiator was given to me for free by my uncle. I didn't ask for the ac radiator because I am going to eliminate the A/C system.
The straighting of the sub frame comes out $125. My cousin said that he will paint my hood and fender for $300. The other day at the university, I told the teacher that gives me class on internal combustion engine, the progress I was making. I told him I have $425 left and he told me that if I wanted for $250 at a machine shop they would work on my top and turn it into a race spec one to run on stock cam and would knife cut and balance my crankshaft. He said he had a Datsun 210/B210 once and did these mod and they produced big power. Now, my uncle did the same thing to a motor he has and told me that after he did these mods his Datsun would beat V6, V8, Turbo, and Turbo-Nitrous fed cars like nothing. Has anyone here done these mods? If so, what significate diffrence does it make and does it have the power to bet those typs of car? All replys will help me make a better disicion on how to mod my motor with the remaing money. Thanks alot you guy and it feels good to be back with my Datsun.

I think you will also need your cam reground to a more racey profile and a pair of twin carbs to get the most out of the work you are getting done to the head.

I think you'll be a bit disappointed if you expect that much. It might liven it up a little but it will still be a slow car

I know you think I may be lying but I am not. My uncle brought to me several of his friends who have seen it in action and that the biggest race my uncle had was against a 5.0L Mustang with Holly 4 barle and hooker headers and beat it by 5 or 6 lengths.

oh sorry I didnt realise you were talking about an a15. Still, beating an old v8 in a heavy car doesnt mean it will match a turbo car with N2O.
good luck to you I hope you end up with something you enjoy

I no it won't macth up to a car with turbo and N20 but I have seen first hand how quick his Datsun really was. Once he raced a friend of mine who had a Honda Civic B18 turbo and he beat him with about 4 lengths. All I could heard when he passed me was "Woosh" because of how quick he was going.

Were these races timed on a quarter mile strip? I'd be interested into how long it takes the modified A15 to get down the quater mile.
Also the 60ft time would be good too!

Well, i don't know the times that the datsun does on the strip but the straight in front of my house is probably about 100 or 200 feet and he blasted buy my house like 7 seconds flat.
