I have access to either some 175/50/13 sumitomo HTR's or some 185/60/13 Falken ziex 512's. Which would you chose? Niether? These are going on my new libres.

Come on guys I got to make a choice here. Unless someone convinces me otherwise I'm going with the Falkens.

Original 600x12 tyre= 575mm in overall diameter.
185x60x13 =552mm diameter.
175x50x12 = 504mm diameter

If these are for the front of a 1200 or a B210, then I suggest that you go with the 185x60x13's.
Rears, quite naturally of course, should be larger.

what price can you get those ziex's for? and when I change my rubber I was going to go for the 185's on all corners so rotating the tyres wont be so annoying

Sundat1200 is located in California, so the price that he pays for his tyres will not really be a fair comparisom to what you might pay in Australia.

If you look, you will see that the 185x60x13 tyre is about an inch smaller in overall diameter from the originals on a 1200, which is fine for fronts, but if used on the rear they will provide slightly lower overall gearing.

I haven't used the same size front & rear on any of my own cars since I registered my 1917 Dodge in 1973. If you really want to rotate the tyres when running different sizes, then just swap 'em side for side, nothing annoying about that. I've never rotated a set of tyres in my life & I still get better tyre mileage [kilometerage?] than my mates.

I carry a stock 12" wheel as a spare & haven't had a flat since I started driving small Datsuns in Feb of 1980.
Just use a quality tyre, keep them pumped up, make sure the fronts are aligned properly & drive within your own limits & they will seem to last forever.

Both are H rated, autocrossers like sumitomos, are also available in 185-60-13 thru tirerack, I have'nt tried the falkens, but i hear good stuff about them, the last set of tires I ran on 13's were pirelli's p7f, 175-50-13's, were sticky as hell, but let me warn you to fit 175-50's will be one hell of a job. I'd try falkens, -

It's not somuch that it's annoying, it's just I have a vannete spare wheel in the boot and it won't fit on the front if I get a flat I should carry a 12 so i can put the florr back in it, plus it's lighter

put the falkens on, nice tyre, but if you are after low rider looks, got the sumis, i love 50 series 13 inch tyres......... but more expensive than 14inch here.
