DET injectors in a CA18de

I have been pissing around with getting my offroader going etc , see other posts . I have come to the conclusion it is just rich at idle and I suspect it has been getting worse for a while and just got to the point it would not run anymore .
To elimiate the injectors can I swap a set of CA18DET injectors into it ( CA18DE ) and run the standard computer . The det has a resistor module for the injectors , will I need to wire that in . And would it run with the bigger injectors ? I think it may give me the same symptioms I have now , ie rich at idle and sort itself out of idle when it reads the oxy sensor . the reason is I have a set and don't want to go and buy a set of CA18de injectors . Maybe I just have to put in the DET computer and airflow meter and try it . Cheers Chris

i would say no, unless you chip the computer to change the injector pulse bandwidth rate thingy. It tells the injectors how long to stay open and because the DET ones are bigger it would flood the cylinder with fuel. SO it is easy to swap and chip the ECU but it would run like crap, if at all without the chip

apparently RB20det injectors are the same as CA18de injectors if that helps, is it blowing heaps of black smoke under 3000rpm, have u tried another computer?, or cleaned the injectors?

yeh i reckon that with all the things you've tried and all the things that are ok, i would suggest plugging in a computer from another CA18DE and seeing if that does anything. if the computer is getting all the right signals, then the onle thing that can be wrong is what the computer is doing with all of them...
as far as the injectors go, if they are the same resistance then i would say you could swap them, but i doubt they are as the DET ones would likely have a lower impedence. You can view topic.
