More head work you can never have enough head work.
Or more comp. Not a whole lot of stuff you can do with got going to a turbo or rebuilding your motor again.

Turbo would be the way mate, but you would need to drop the comp and get rid of the wild cam.
There is a great Turbo setup for Lseries on Ebay atm!!! link: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/DATSUN-L-SERIES-COMPETE-TURBO-SET-UP_W0QQitemZ120047873159QQihZ002QQcategoryZ72478QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I believe someone has. If not then another 4 banger L-series for sure. I think a guy around here had a turbo L20b. Never caught his name.. Anyways, you could turbo it (There was a turbo 4 cyl. L-series, the LD20 and it's manifold will bolt up to your L-series head or just fab one). And of course there's elusive very rare injection intake manifolds (if you wanted to go EFI). But you could also get an L20b and bore it and stroke it with L-series and Z-series NAPS-Z parts to get your 2.0L to... 2.4 I think was the max you could safely do it with the right combonation of pistons, rods, crank and overbore and block too. I think you had to start to start with an L-series block.. were the naps-z blocks as strong? I can't recall but I think not... for the bigger ones but there might've been some that would suit the L18. There was a site with all the information, I can't remember it but I'll see if I can find it again. I think I might be able to. Or you could go with a smaller displacement like 2.2, maybe 2.3 and slap a turbo on. That'd really be something. So either boost that compression up or boost your motor. Sorry for the long post. Good to hear about the ol' L-series engines again.

AH HA! I found it. Gives you info for high compression L18 or low compression L18. Among other things.

z18et should be fairly easy, FJ would be quite a bit more work but good results

i need something with power, my engine only gets going at around 5500- 6000 when the extractors start working
