There is an electronic ignition kit made by Pertronix, called IGNITOR.
The part number is :1741.
I have just fitted one to my A15, no probs.

If you are running a high performance, high compression [or blown] engine, then a high energy ignition will be a decided advantage, however, if you're like me, running a basicly stock engine, then the Pertronix unit is a good thing. I simply wanted a 'points replacement' system & I was offered a low mileage, pre loved Pertronix system at an attractive price which has since been fitted & works well.

Engine idle smoothness has been improved & I have picked up another half inch of mercury of vacuum at 600 rpm, so that simply means that it is making even better use of the tiny bit of fuel that is metered in there.
Easier starting, smoother running & a perception of better mileage, sounds like a bonus to me.

Datrats was offering a Bosch High Energy distributor for the A series engines that used the distributor from a series 2 Bluebird as a core.
The finished Datrats unit was a LOT more than just a core unit machined down & the finished product was virtually a new unit. Its price reflected the level of work that went into it & the quality product that is.

The beauty of these is that replacement service parts are available from almost any auto store, many auto electricians & if necessary, many auto recyclers. Performance & servicibility, it's a combination that's hard to beat, but I still love my Pertronix.

There are not a lot of them out there & I don't expect to see too many turn up in the bargain basket for a little while yet.

This is how my scabby & well used donor unit came back to me.
Quality doesn't cost, ... it pays.
