K40 gearbox...snapped, now w57/w58>>>>A15 motor

yeah I know but it's all I have to work with here...
my 4-speed croaked last week, so I'm kinda desperate to get this thing running again. both boxes are the same in overall length. the Toyota box has thicker input and output shafts, that's good but bad, I need to get new clutch and have the Prop-shaft re-fit. the K40's ratios...... R=-4.316 1=3.789 2=2.220 3=1.435 4= 1 any one know what the Nissan box's ratios are. it's an old 1200 smooth housing box. Basically I'm gonna be getting into both with a grinder, then tig-weld the Nissan box's B-housing onto the k40's body, and try to do this with it's all lined up straight... Then I'll have to hope the clutch still works... will take some pics tomorrow. any advice b4 I go and gutt a helty toyota box to bit's.... now's your chance... :)

Indeed I am, but as average as these boxes might be, this one is actually stronger in every way I can detect, compared to the Nissan box. Both the input and output shafts are one spline thicker , the one thing I do like is the gear-shift that can be bolted off, to add oil, So I can even do it in the rain, and not get wet. So far all is going to plan, the clutch cable almost did not clear the starter, but it did, so all's well there, I just took my clutch plate in to get the center changed to the right size, While I was at it, they are going to lighten the flywheel as well....
SHould be fun....

Damn nabbit, bad luck... Better fix it before the 23rd, we want to see you kick some butt...
O and listen, if you have a bunch of rods and some gas to waste again, I have lots of stuff you can weld...*hehehe*

it might be from a supra but it has a hydrulic clutch so its gonna take a bit of work to get this thing working behind an A-series.
just find a F4W56L or F4W60L and put that in for a temporary fix. otherwise the 3T or 2T toyota box (T50 series from early celicas) would be what i recommend

going hydraulic is the easy part here.... a bigger problem is the fact that the fork angle is such that the slave wants to be where the starter sits on the Nissan bellhousing...
I was actually aiming for a T50..... but then I saw these boxen on the shelf and well.... from some sites, this box, worse case, being a W57 wich apparently is exaclty the same as the W58, appart from it's 5th gear ratio... is good for 300+HP... is does however have the steel plate.... which seem to be a telling thing for it being the very rare w58 box....
