#1 Is it worthwhile....

Is it worthwhile getting my ute tiptronic or 2 speed powergilde as its going to be auto?

which out of the 2 would be better?

i know that to use 2 speed powerglide would be worthwhile only if it was like 500hp or something which it then wouldn't be street legal but would it be cheaper then tiptronic and wothwhile even if only with a CA18DET?

can you use the stock ca18det auto? not a bad box and at least it bolts up to the engine... just need tunnel mods for clearance.

then you could put a manual kit on it but defeats the purpose of auto.

2 speed powerglide might not have enough gearing to get you onto boost early... like driving a 1.8de till 60kmh or similar till boost builds up.

Yer agree 2 speed would suvk round town. I had a 3 speed auto once an it was painful enough.

You can use stock auto but beware you will lose power

That'd be my choice for an auto.

The stock CA18DET auto's are plenty strong enough to handle a worked CA18.

There's one in Brissy behine a CA18 w/ Forgies, Motec, big injectors, big turbo, etc, etc.......

Stronger than the manual box.

Check the fluid. Autos have a reputation for not being serviced

Yes, a Chevrolet PowerGlide would be much cheaper. Tiptronic is a Porsche transmission, I wouldn't doubt if it cost $10,000.

For a hot street/drag car, the Ford C4 is better than a Powerglide (3 gears vs. 2 gears).
