#1 Sound advice
Reeves Posted on: 2007/7/9 9:36
Hi all.

Can all the UTE owners show me some ideas as to how their sound installs look like in there UTE's.
Need some Ideas, As Love my music, and hate the little tin sounding equipment that came standard with my UTE,,,,,,I want some good clarity and bass.

I actually wanting to cut a 12'inch hole behind the seat into the bin, and custom fit a subwoofer and enclosure. For the mids, was wanting to put in 6'with spacers on the door panels.

As for the CD unit, have taken out the original radio, and put in a MP3 player, however I couldnt put it in the TAPE allocated space on the dash, due to the new Headunit being larger and touching the wiper mechanism. So got it at the moment in the glove compartment, and not permantantly fitted.

Thanks in advance guys

personally i ripped out my stereo never to put another one in!
however this is not an option in your case.

Firstly: it is a small cabin ute so even fairly poor quality seakers will sounds good in the confined area.
This would suggest that if you buy good quality speakers and run them from a good amp to suit, then no subs would be required and and hence no need to cut your rear firewall.

as i just said, dont worry about subs until after you have a good set of splits and you are running them off a good, 4channel amp. Then and only then would i put a sub in if you fell it neccessary...

you will also need some sounds deadening for the doors to stop them rattling.

Thanks Ronald.

I was thinking of putting in 8inch Limpids, with nice thick spacers on the door panels.
And a amplifier.

Due to my UTE still being financed etc( 2003 mod) , and me having to resell maybe at a later stage, i was afraid by cutting the back, would lessen the value of the vehicle.

I generally take part in Sound and SPL events, but decided,my other car is better for this, A NISSAN SANI d/cab.

SO I JUST DECIDED AGAINST CUTTING THE METAL PANELS, although just one 15Inch cerwin Vega wouldnt been real scwheet for SPL events, cos the cabin bein small

Don't even think about subs when looking at the 1400 bakkie. The cabin is too small and will not give deep sound. I saw this here in Bloem once.
Rather concentrate on sound quility.
Some nice speaker enclosures in the front with a bit of fiber glass work.Look at boofheads pictures. He made some nice angled stuff for his sedan. I would reccomend that. With good planning and building you can get good sound quility.
