ADVICE BEFORE BUYING CA18DET!!!!!!!!!
MATCHBOX1200
Posted on: 2007/7/19 2:12
Hi, I just came across a Silvia,180x, CA18DET engine with just under 75,000km, selling for $750 plus $220 shipping. The price includes engine and turbo only. Is this a good price for such a rare engine? and will it fit into my 1979 Datsun 1200 ute without to many dramas?

where are they finding cars with 75000 k's they are over 15yrs old, i'm so sus on these low k motor's, try and buy a front cut or complete motor, box, computer & loom. buying bits and pieces add up. My ca in my coupe has over 180,000k's i only changed the timing belt.

never hurts to have the motor overhauled before you put it in.

I think $$$ is a big factor there. A lot of people break the bank just getting them in then to have to spend another $2000+ on a rebuild is expensive.
I agree though, it would save the worrying about how much boost to run on a standard engine etc!! You can view topic.
