#1 Bench testing Tach & gauges
edp Posted on: 2007/12/24 19:08
Being that I haven't had to check one in 20 plus years I cant remember how to do this.

Do you ground it out to check continuity or something like that?

I recall it's similar to bench testing a fuel tank sending unit but other then that i'm drawing a blank.
Thanks, Evan

The factory Datsun 1200 tachometer is unlike most others. It uses an induction signal, and is not directly connected to the distributor points/coil wire. I have no idea how you would bench test it. For a wiring diagram, see Wiki - Wiring Tachometer

For the dash gauges, 12V in the right place, along with selective grounding would work. For a wiring diagram, see Wiki - Wiring Gauges
