Even rarer than that -- about as rare as rabbit's beaks.
Business Week implies the rabbit emblem in question was designed for the 2nd gen 1935 Datsun. Nissan made 2,631 cars that year, and less cars the next year. "Rabbit" was a potential translation for "dat", meaning the DAT car starting in 1914. They probably made less than 2,000 DAT cars over 20 years. In 1934 Nissan made only 650 cars. Rabbit: 兎 DAT Car: 脱兎 By the way, the first Datson was 1931, then changed to Datsun in 1933 when Nissan bought out DAT Motors. So there was no "1930 Datsun". There is not likely to be one in Australia unless someone has brought one into the country in recent times.
As far as I can tell, we didn't see a Datsun car in Australia before about 1958.

Rumour has it that one of the 20 Aussie-assembled Datsuns circa 1936 still survives ... track it down and offer to buy the rabbit mascot
