Is it a 1200 car engine with the distributor at the front, or a later one, from 1974 onwards with the distributor towards the back? The later engine uses a dipstick tube & a longer dipstick while the 1200 engine has a drilling in the block & a shorter dipstick. What car is it from? Some models in some countries used this engine in front drive Cherry models & they have a deep alloy sump, so I guess they use a different dipstick again. The USA never got the A12 engine from 1974 onward, so if you include some location details we can often figure out what you need. If you are in the US, I would know immediately which engine you have. [the early one] So throw in some additional details & help us to help you.

Hi thanx for the welcome
The dizzy sits more to the back and the dipstick goes in to a tube The car is a Datsun 1200 deluxe sedan i do not realy know much of the car but still learning so it seems that i am in the right place thanx Dodgeman

For a USA model A12 engine without a dipstick tube and just a hole in the block The length of the dipstick is 9 1/16 inches
This particular example is from a 1972 coupe and or sedan motor and is measured from the bottom of the rubber stopper, it is an even 10 inches from the top of the hole drilled in the block. The early dipstick is actually a round section rod & as we know, is 10" long from the rubber flange to the end.
