#1 finding a radiator
blastoff Posted on: 2008/3/4 11:29
Hey guys. i sort of blew through my (apparently old) radiator fins with the hose the other day. no leaks, but..
so all the local shops were quoting me a few hundred dollars for a replacement, even more for a re-core. most of the ones on-line are up in the $150 range.... except this one: http://www2.partstrain.com/store/?Ntt ... N=1684%204294966699+11385

a "replacement" radiator from PartsTrain for $30 bucks! ...?
the picture doesnt look right, but all the other info seems legit. so, does anyone have any experience with these guys, or this "brand" of radiator? should i jump on the train???
any info very much appreciated
-Nelo

hi nelson, it is probably a china-made radiator, it may be good, who can say? Buy one and let us know.

PartsTrain appears to be a new vendor.

The tried and true radiator is the $43 aluminum one from your local vw dealer. details

good luck with your radiator search. Mine 'ended' in the times of '78, the original owner lived in San Diego. All the salt air ate at the fins. I had a 'local' guy do the work for it, was good for a while until the cooler hose blew on me. 154 highway, climbing toward Lake Cachuma.
