#1 CA18DET forgies
A14force Posted on: 2008/4/13 8:42
Who's using what brand? Are there any brands which have a bad name? I'm looking at getting some for a ca18det I scored for a box of bourbon and colas. Being that I'm as tight as a fishes whazoo, I don't want to spend the earth. I also don't want to buy lemons either.
Don't want much do I?

I'm using Arias 20 thou over forgies. There is a small amount of rattling on start up but nothing major. No complaints so far.

Thats the nature of the beast with forgies. The denser grain structure means they take longer to reach operating temperature. So they slap a bit till they do. What brand do you run?

A14Force - not necessarily mate. CP pistons are reknowned for making no more noise than a standard cast piston due to their metallurgy make up.

Mine are Arias.

My old man has a motor out of a marathon boat in one of his cars. It has ross forgies, and they're a bit slappy when it's cold.

modern forged pistons dont rattle if clearances are right
your knock sensor would pull out all your timing and make it a lemon
