Engine compartment measurement needed please...
edp

could someone provide me with the centerline measurement of the engine / drivetrain of an A12/A14 in a coupe in the engine bay?
This would be between the fenders where they bolt to the chassis along the firewall lip/top. Hopefully this makes sense (MM or inches are fine, whatever you got) Thanks a lot

Engine bay width, at a line drawn through the strut tower bolts: 1224 mm.
Engine appears to be exacty centered. Mine is, right side fender lip to right edge of rocker cover: 556 mm. By they way, I know see my two fenders are different. Left side one has a tiny lip at inside top edge, it's only about 1 mm but defintely different than the other side.

thanks DD, I assume its thru the strut cartridge shaft & nut, not the insulator bolts poking up thru the chassis.
thanks, Evan

You are correct, I measured through the strut center itself, not the strut tower bolts. Sorry for the confusion.
Speaking of which, my new Nissan non-gas strut cartridges arrived today. Only took about 4 weeks to get here I am very pleased.

So it's 612 +/- to the centerline of the engine then?
what cart's did you find & where? Not that I need any now, I've got two new sets. Thx. Evan

Hi edp, I didn't measure to centerline of engine, because the air cleaner is in the way.
I measured from right side to edge of valve cover. I used a bubble square for accuracy. The cartridges that just arrived are Nissan, same ones you have.

your opinion is that the engine is pretty well centered in the compartment though....
If thats the case thats all I need, its just for rough measuring. thx! BTW - cheap spring compressors @ Harbor Freight, the small ones look like they'll work well on this stuff. I got the old style, full size one & its kind of a pain. You can view topic.
