upping the compression, how much to shave?

well after the mind blowing 34.1 kw's from the standard motor i'm keen on playing with cheap upgrades.
here's my thoughts install a mild cam make up a 2 inch exhaust from the a14 cast exhaust manifold shave the head. are there many different heads or just a open chamber and a closed chamber version? if i have either, how much should i shave off for just a nice amount of compression, nothing silly. will it all be pointless if i'm keeping a standard carby? is there anything else i should look to do to benefit from this stuff that is cheapish (dizzy, etc...)

32/36 weber while you wait for EFI?
upping comp will always make a good difference, till it starts to detonate obvously but the standard carby and exhaust manifold will most likely be fighting against the cam but no real harm in doing some mods in preparation for others that will come later

Do a quick port match and clean up any casting marks.
Installing a cam can end up a big project, as in. . . 1. Engine out 2. If I fit new cam bearings, I might as well do all the bearings. . . 3. Might just hot tank and paint the block. . . 4. Now I have to paint the engine bay to suit. . . 5. Next thing you know, the car is spread across the garage. . . Exhaust and open air cleaner will make it sound faster. . .

If you are really after a zero dollar upgrade use a small drill and a piece of thin wire to give yourself mechanical secondaries on the standard carby.
