The easy LSD upgrade for a 1200 is a 720 front diff. But that still leaves U with bodgy drumo's. Basically what were looking for is an upgrade with discs, non IRS, and the same or larger
wheel track. Does a 1600 wagon have rear discs? Is the standard scorpion diff open cntr? Without going the cut down ford nine inch convert, what is the easiest way to get a LSD with
discs in a 1200 ute.

A previous post referred to using a Falcon ute complete rear which gave you LSD, a live rear, and discs(?). Sounded cheap and functional and well
worth a look.

I'd guess that I would have heard about that. I would be quite
surprised if it did.

The 720 front diff will drop straight in. The guy I bought my ute off had it
in a 1200 sedan.

720 what? I don't know about what was used in Aussieland, but here in the U.S. the 720 had the H190 rear diff. and the R180 front
diff.
To further explain the 1200 used a H145.
the numbers refer to the inside diamiter of the ring gear. without major modifications there is no way to put either in a 1200 axle
housing.
added to this, as I recall the utes used the H165
diff. all of the "H" series diffs. are live axle units, as in soild rear axle.
The R180 diff is a IRS/IFS unit, again the numbers refer to the inside diamiter of the ring gear.
To put things in a simple statement, you cannot put either of the diffs. that were used in the 720 into a 1200 without serious
modifications.

Mely. The H190 out of the 1600 wagons only had drums. I have an old H190 in the shed that i had in a previous 1200 but i think its too heavy unless
u got BIG hp.

I am also on the hunt for a LSD, disc brake rear end for my coupe aswell and i rang a few diff places in Sydney last week. Most suggested fitting a Borg Warner diff with commodore rear
discs and calipers and 4.1:1 LSD. Sounds like a good setup but also came with a price - $1700! This is completly rebuilt with everything new and bolts up to the 1200 leaf springs. Im
not going to buy it even tho it would be the best diff for my coupe cause for $1700 its just not worth it. Theres gotta be a cheaper way with the same results...
