Wannabee Posted on: 2008/9/10 17:54
Umm as per title really...
Going to enter the powercruise 15 when it hits perth and thinkn i mite put my current ride a 1958 Holden FC special sedan on the Dyno just for ####s and giggles!! See how he pans out!!
However my problem is... I have no ####ing idea how to do it...
Do i just jump in, roll it on, strap it up and then dump the clutch?!
I mean... ive watched dyno runs before... however i never actually...watched them... like didnt really note how they did it...
so basically... Tell me what to do people!! Every little thing about it!! Even if you think its common sense...especially that actualy!! I really have got no idea what to do!
Cheers guys!!

you'll be doing nothing...

trained people will be attaching the car to the dyno, and other peopple will also be operating the car while it's on the dyno.

You will be standing back, hoping they don't break anything.

Unless you know the guys operating the dyno,i also suggest taking along a 2 gallon plastic bucket with handle....for the bits if it goes wrong.

Trained people should also have some idea just on experience How far to push the car. Minimizing the chances of breaking things.

what ever u guys do dont goto RPM in adelaide. they rip u of. i went there for a $75 dyno. over $400 later because one of my injector seals was leaking and in a 12AT its preety quick and easy to replace. the tim guy who dyno'd it was on the fone most of the time to his G/F.ive now got 2 A holes

If you give your car to a dyno operator for a power run then you would want to be sure the car is tuned and running correctly!

It's not the dyno operator's responsibility if something's not right. They usually watch mixtures and back off if they are too bad or hear pinging. They will also have you sign a disclaimer at events such as powercruise to void them of any responsibility. If you don't like it, don't participate!

If you are paying for a tune, however, then you expect them to be a lot more cautious.

To Matto1kUte - Nobody said you had to have them do the work on it to fix it, you could have just driven home and done it yourself. A $75 dyno would be a basic power run and mixture check, you can't expect much for that amount of money. I do agree that $400 sounds fairly steep for what would be 99% labour!
