can anyone help me determine the year of my coupe? i have no papers.... and no compliance plate...is this because its pre 1970??? are the last two numbers of the b110 chassis # any relevance??

According to my Manual they were first sold in the mid 70's. So that clears the pre 1970 complianve Question. Not sure of any other way to tell but the body number up near the b110 stamp and any info you have of what state the car was last registered in. Could possibly be identified by your local motor registry. Other members would know ways to tell im only a datto lover and apprentice GURU. My coupes 71 and i havent seen any past 73 in my time.

cheers for the help mate i bought it as a wreck for parts for my other datsun but am now selling up...a few potential buyers asked the year...are there any other traits that may determine e.g grills, mirrors etc???

the number after B110 should give us a clue - I've got a 1970 one, so if your number is bigger than my number.....

From 1970 till early 1974, should be all you would need if parting it out

Datsun/Sunny 1200 was first manufactured in January 1970 if the info I have is correct but
Australia didn't see them untill well into the year.
The earlier ones, up to sometime in 1972, had glovebox lids without a latching device, so the lid will be clean & uncluttered.
The earlier ones also did not have an accessory position on the ignition switch.

That should be a start.
