#1 A12 Vs A15 distributer.
Rezlo Posted on: 2008/9/25 18:43
Hi guys,

Busy putting my race prep A15 in to my B110 1200, My A15 distributer is dammaged but visualy looks very similar to the A12 (besides the cap, rotor ectr), is it possible to use the A12's distibuter in the A15? The contact/drive gear looks the same with 13 teeth and the install depth into the block looks the same, just wondering has anyone has tried this? I already have the optical pick up in the 1200 distributer.

thanks

You can put the A12 dizzy in the A15. All you have to do is swap the adjustment plate from the A15 dizzy to the A12 dizzy. You will need to file out the slot on the A15 adjustment plate a small amount to get it on the A12 dizzy.

The wiki shows a slightly different way to fit the adjustment plate. Actually, you will be doing the opposite of what the wiki shows- you will be removing material on the inside of the slot to allow for the smaller 1200 dizzy.

See: 1200 dizzy swap wiki

In the US, all A12 engines are the front distributor type that Gary_P is refering to because when the revised engine was released for the 1974 model B210, the US market got larger engines, but not the new design A12.

If your A12 distributor came from a 1200 engine [front disrtibutor mounting] then Gary's comments will apply, but if it came from a 1974 or later A12 [rear distributor mounting] then it will simply fit right in without modification.

This is why I always refer to the 1171cc engines as either a 1200 engine [early] or an A12 [late]
