For a couple of reasons, mainly to do with the oil filter, these are a better choice than the L20B from the Bluebird range.
The L20B, even a stock one, in a 1200 will pull like a train.
Dogleg 4 speed???? Doesn't exist.

The early 200B's had a weird monkey motion selector at the back of the gearbox which was carried over from the previous models. This was improved to be the same as the later 5 speed models. Same design as the smaller A series gearboxes too.

Next came the facelift model with more Australian content from about 1980 & these had that godawfull Borg Warner gearbox. If too much load was placed on reverse, such as backing up a steepish incline, they had a habbit of jumping out of reverse & it steadily got worse over time.

The Warner gearbox still has value though, ... about $260 per ton. See if you can get a 5 speed & if you can't find one locally, I have a Bluebird one that you can have for zip. Pickup only I'm afraid, but I will deliver to Sydney.

You will need the overdrive ratio as the best you can get under a 1200 if using the standard H145 axle housing, or even a Ute rear axle assembly is 3.7 to 1 unless you get a 3.54 to 1 ratio H150 diff from the US.
The stock 200B used tyres of about 618mm diameter [175/75/14] but the best you will comfortably fit under a 1200 will be somewhere around 580mm diameter.

My 1.11 ton barge [200B wagon] has a 5 speed & with tyres of 647mm diameter [205/65/14] & a 3.9 diff ratio & it still pulls away smoothly from about 50kph in 5th.

Thanks. Yes it has that old box then cause the guy told me it Jumps out of reverse, funnily he lived on a steep little driveway. Its an 80 model well it says that on the rego papers. The body is shagged. Some of the interior is in good nick especially the front seats as they have been covered. Personally i like the wheels to. Would be keen on that 5 speed box. would bolt straight up wouldnt it.
Do you need any parts for your wagon Dodgeman ?

If somebody in Sydney can get it to you then I can deliver & yes, it will bolt straight up. I replaced my Warner box with a series 1 Bluebird TRX five speed within a month or two of buying my wagon.

I have a 200B SX as a parts car which is where the spare 5 speed Bluebird gearbox was salvaged from, so thanks but I have more spares than I need right now.
The driveshaft yoke from the Warner box is the same as the Jap 4 speed & 5 speed gearboxes & the cars with the Warner box have a one piece tailshaft while the Jap box models have a two piece shaft.
Your one piece shaft will be easier to shorten for use in the 1200.

Have a look at the compliance plate for exact month & year of manufacture.

Read the fourth parra of my first post re the price.
Last word of second sentence in that parragraph. I will accept a modest donation for fuel though.

Kirsty, I never refuse an invitation from a lady, .. it would be a pleasure.

I'm near Moss Vale but need to go 65k south to Goulburn to get a courier.
I travel [north] to Sydney with some degree of frequency but usually with about 4 or more people to see at all parts of the metro area so would prefer to simply drop it off with someone & go to my next appointment. [any vollunteers]
My normal Sydney trip day starts here at about 4am & I don't get home untill about midnight most times.

The donor car was driven to it's resting place where I salvaged it & I pulled the gearbox when I got it home. I have no idea of it's condition but it's serviceable as far as I know & has been kept indoors since I removed it.
