#1 Papua New Guinea's B10 Project (sloooooowed right down)
clyons8 Posted on: 2008/10/3 3:54
I bought this 2 door from Bowen in North Queensland costing me only $224.72. It then cost an embarrassing (and yet very worthwhile) fortune to ship all the way to Rabaul. I had a 1000 4dr in Adelaide while I was at Uni (never got it going due to dire lack of funds!) and that was where it all began.

Here are some of the parts I have been collecting:

No no, I never bought those ones off ebay.

I wanted to but I was too short for cash, got another baby on the way and I'm doing it tight Tinned fish and rice for most meals!
(Missus is in Adelaide, volcano went up so she and my son had to bail).

These lights came from the UK....from a very, very helpful man.

You want a badge aye?

Looking the goods Chris,if you have'nt done so already, replace the rubber bushes on the top wishbone...you'll have to make them out of nolathane stock. These old things have more movement than eating a box of laxettes.

I'm painting it in the original colour (well it was a colour match anyway). I don't like any other colours that aren't between white and black.

Here is the car coming to bits. The pictures are going backwards and forwards but you know how it all goes.

So there was a bit of a fire in the engine bay (look at the bonnet) but I have had a good look and there is no significant, structural warping (see the burning below)

Here's the bonnet after several embarrassing attempts to 'bring it back'. An absolute failure evidently. So I have managed to purchase 2 spares.

And the engine out:

Here is the undercarriage which is quite neat in my opinion, just aged paint peeling off, no scary bodge jobs.

Here is the car all stripped bar the dashboard. This shot was taken late at night when it flooded at work. The rains finally broke and washed all the volcanic ash off the hilside into the bloody workshop. We've moved about 100 cubic metres already and we are still going. Can you see the diffs in the mud, H145, H150, H165 (bottom left)?

Here is my poor 1200 (don't worry Jake she'll be turboed before the end of the year). Waiting for some attention....unfortunately 1000's take priority.

Sean I'm back in Adelaide next year. Just take me on one of the cruises, put some Leonard Cohen on the stereo and I'll drink VB's and be the navigator (warning, warning).

I can't afford to get a B10 in Adelaide so if you want some datto help on the weekends I'm keen to help out. Pretty good on the spray gun. No bad on mechanics too. (for free of course).

Brent.... I didn't set her on fire! That made me laugh though. Umm I think it was a loose battery, probably flew off the bracket smacked the fuel pump and set a spark which then lit her up.... poor thing. No car should ever be burnt.
