yea my 68 chev impala dosen't have a tailshaft loop and at 80mph the front uni broke. it ripped the gearbox off the motor by snapping the bell housing in half,grabbed the right exhaust and snapped the rh manifold off the head then the tailshaft folded,slapped around under the car before snapping off. it was loud and the powerglide was only a couple of months old.

what sorta tailshaft is it? as most of the stock 1200 ones dont have replacable unis
K-DOGG, how did the tailshaft manage to hurt the gearbox if the front uni broke?

85 1200 ute, it has small uni at front ,1786 uni at rear. same uni as 71 sedan.
tail sharft could of bean changed? went to ripco couldnt find listing, thay recken same as rear????

i also need new front and rear unis for my sedan as they are very sloppy. if u find out wat they are can u let me no tommo

did have spare tail sharft but needed the yoke,as old one damaged when uni let go

got new unis today
front uni part no ruj-1780 $22 rear uni part no ruj-1786 $27 rear uni to suit 165 diff (ute) rear uni sedan 145 diff same as front brought from ripco, trade account hope this may help other 1200 owners tommo You can view topic.
