Carnell Supersprint last weekend - lots of pics!

great weekend out at Stanthorpe last weekend. I've never seen so many 1200s, 120Ys and 1000s in the one place! And the Datsun boys took lots of trophys home too.
Carnell is a great little track. Very tight and technical, and difficult to get right. Can't wait to get back out there next year. anyway, here's some pics taken by a mate, Len in the Group C replica Bluebird with FJ20ET power! Oh and a couple by Jeff with the 1600 pictured, who turnedon a great display of david and goliath racing with the Porsche turbo S all weekend. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks for the pics, some very nice cars. I'm also taken aback by how much camber some of the guys have dialed in.
Nice to see I'm not the only Datsun mixing it up with Porsches. Now can you tell what you guys call a Super Sprint - is this what we cal a Time Trial?? Practice sessions followed by timed laps?? Doesn't look like wheel to wheel. Finally the orange coupe is running the same wheels as I have - nice to see the same brand of parts travel the world...........now if only I knew what brand the were!!! Tom

a supersprint is a grid start for 2 cars at a time, in this case over 4 laps. on a short track like this, there are 2 pairs of cars running at the same time.
timing starts when you start. So you can both take off when the flag drops and race head to head, or you can sit on the line for a couple of seconds after the other car goes to get a clean run in. Results are based on the best accumulated time for a 4 lap session. No practice or warm up laps. Obviously running door to door can be more fun but won't get the best time. I had one head to head run with the white WRX with the missing bumper, but after that she let me go first every other time. which orange coupe? car 81 is running superlites which look very much like panasports. car 53 is running hotwires, another locally made wheel.

Just got the results in Harry, not only did you win your class, but where 6th. outright.....and you said you would not be competitive
And an interesting fact; There where 8 sedan type classes 7 of which where won or podiumed or both by DATSUNS!! The 8th. class had no Datto's entered, but was won by a Corolla with snail attatched.

I haven't found any pics of your car around the place. shame, cos it looks so good on the track. And a class win by over 5 seconds is pretty handy too! Someone on here should snap you car up - great little machine at a good price!
OK, I was totally wrong about the Datto not being suited to the track, but the performance of a couple of the under 1600 and 1601-2000 cars shows what I was afraid of! I'm a bit surprised my best time came from the first run on Sunday morning too. I thought it was a bit too cold for the track to be really fast then. Wrong again! I guess thast local knowledge you imparted in that track walk on Saturday afternoon paid off! Thanks bert!

Sometimes i think he's a cunning old bugger, this same situation happened last year and i thought oh well such is life....I turn up at the annual dinner and presentation and heres a photo on display in a nice chrome frame on display on the bar of the Datto with wheels in the air,i obviously enquire on the cost...and left $50.00 lighter but with photo under arm.

It was a fun weekend , Good Pics ,Kind of a mini Dat meet ,, I am so happy with the way car handled ,you could change your line mid corner if you had the need and still have a neutral balance
