Motorsport event costs

Was just reading Harry's post about the costs of events etc, was very interesting- thought it might be interesting to compare what events cost in other countries, kiwis are jumping the ditch in droves for better wages/weather etc and I was just wondering how motorsport compares costwise between NZ and AUS but other countries please reply too.
In NZ regional series rallys are now averaging $600 to enter, (one day), clubman type rallies around $400, rallysprints are $100-$120ish, hillclimbs $50-$100, not sure on circuit events as I haven't done one for a while but I would guess around $120 for a clubmans race meeting and $250 or so for a national meeting. Dual sprints maybe $80-100? How do your events compare? btw we're talking events that datsun owners realistically compete in.

Supersprints in the NSW championship usually are around $130 to $170, depending on the venue and the club running it. Track days range from $100 to about $200. Hillclimbs vary from about $60 to $80 for a club round to up to and over $120 for a state round, again depending on the venue and organising club.
Some people seem to whinge about the price but you could spend much more on a big night out, and not have as much fun. I see these events as good value for money. I'd be interested in what a round of Improved Production racing would be worth, as I am thinking about having a go next year sometime for a bit of a laugh, now that my car has a 6 point harness and window net.

C'mon in mate - you know you want to
Improved production is a great category, you would love it - best move I have made! Events run at anywhere from under $300 for a one day meeting (but heaps of laps) through to $385 for a regular 2 day event. Generally Qualifying (15 mins) and race 1 on saturday. Race 2 and 3 on Sunday. Compared to supersprinting, only difference in costs will be wear and tear on car and tyres - but you will be doing more laps AND the rush of dicing with a group of cars each corner - keeps you on your toes!!!!!!! Gridfillas always have room for one more Cheers

What cams licence do you need to race improved production? does the level 2(2NS) cover such events?

All the rallys we have done have been with AMSAG but cost around $450-550 and include meals for the weekend, with about 250- 300km compeitive. Sounds pretty similar.

The 2NS license only covers events like motorkhanas, khanacrosses and any event cams deems as a Non speed event. I have a 2S license which currently allows me to enter supersprints, hillclimbs and that 6 hour enduro that caught my eye. I imagine you'd need a National Circut (NC) for improved production as it's a multi state series.

$450-550 for 250-350km sounds pretty good value, here is $600-700 for around 200km, one day only. then $220 for stage notes. and no meals!
if a rally is a two day national event regional competitors can usually choose the do the extra day for another $300 or so. no points, just for extra skids.

Track days here in the USA (or at least West coast) are about $175 per day and $300 for the weekend. 4-5 30 minutes sessions each day.
Vintage Races are $295 per weekend (they don't do one day entries) Usually 2-3 30 minute sessions with a 25-30 minute race each day. SCCA club races $300-325 per weekend or $150-175 per day. 15 minute practice, 10 minute Qal & 20-25 minute race per day. Rally - our event has a $325-375 entry fee depending when you mail it. 42 Stage miles with about 35 transit miles. Ours is the cheapest event on the calendar. The bigger events with 50-75 stage miles can be up to $750 for an entry. Memberships with license for most groups are $85 to $140. Tom

Sounds like we have it pretty good here! CAMS rallys are more expensive (by $100 or so) and you don't get fed.
AMSAG is mostly for older cars, so there is heaps of old dattos, toyotas, triumphs, etc, but there is a modern class as well. You can view topic.
