pretty sure a 12a N/A is the only way to put a rotary in a 1200 leagaly..

mate u can get nearly anything engineered in a 1200 ute as long as its a neat job not dirty and crappy lookin. and plus its a commercial car so it doesn't apply to those engineering laws u see on the net

This seems to be the age old question!

It's been asked a fair bit on this site. But, as far as i know, it all depends on the engineer.

whoever says that doesnt know any thing the only way you will know the truth is ring or meet up with a rta approved engineer and ask him yourself

its not just nsw either qld and victoria have the same rules. 12a is the biggest rotary you can fit unless you create a full chassis for the ute

if you were serious you wouldnt be asking us.
ask you state RTA
if we say yes and were wrong your stuffed
you can download the DOTARS regulations from their site.these are national "guidelines"
this means your state may still say no
shoey has a link to it on his site
just because someone has done it in the past doesnt mean you still can
do your homework before spending any money

That's why there's a thousand 1200 ute's running around with 350 chevs in 'em!!!

Not baggin' you out, technically what you say is right, but the cost and stresses one must go through to engineer such a conversion are prohibitive. Plus you'll have fun trying to find an engineer willing to spend the time and effort on such a conversion.

If you really are keen on the rotor conversion for street use stick with the 12a, should be no hassles.

EDIT: Dazza is spot on, best advice yet.

Big is good, bigger is better is a fair call...
but, I've seen Ange's 12A ute in action and it's no slouch on the street!
12A's are reasonably cheap too and there is no reason you can't stick a few pounds up it's arse after it's engineered. (your risk).
But... no harm in asking those engineers about the 13BT... What's the worse that could happen?

as people have said ask your engineer! some people may have first experience with some engineers like me and will tell you that there are people out their that will write up a report on nearly anything for the right amount.
in saying that tho cops Will defect you even with an engineer cert. if they want/your a dickhead
imo dont bother getting it engineered drive it sensibly on the street, dont draw too much attention to yourself and you should be rite
