#1 IRS Ute Conversion (now with Pics)
sssute Posted on: 2009/3/1 10:22
I have just started a conversion for my ute, i'm using a S14 complete rearend and R200 diff, brakes etc.
So far i have narrowed the sub-frame and re-jiged the track rod brakets.
Today i took out the r31 housing and leaf springs, and slid in the S14, and it all sits in they pritty well. I'm going to use the S14 original mounting points and make up brakets and a cross brace with threaded pins so that the sub-frame will mount as if it was factory.
I also have to make new top arms to clear the chassis rails, not to hard. The harder thing is the coilover springs, i'm trying to fit something so that i dont have to build strut towers in the tray. I have a couple of ideas and i will try to nut them out over the next couple of days, if i can find the time to do so.

Also the hubs are 5 stud so i'm converting the front as well using our new Ally hubs.

I'll try and post some progress photos.

Scott

PIGDOG, the IRS will handle a lot better for track and hill climb use with the ability to play around with rear camber and toe settings, also less un-sprung weight.

D the hubs are custom Billet ally ones, i have make them to be 114.3 PCD in four or five stud. We do them in 280mm disks or 300mm if your after some big suckers.
