hey guys,
just wondering what size fuel lines most people are running? 5/16 or 3/8?

Im using 5/16 on my coupe with a stock CA18DET. I have a Goss motorsport fuel pump and have had no issues with 5/16 fuel lines.

Unless you are going to be chasing huge Hp the 5/16 lines would be adequate.

Dont know where you are located but in WA Fuel lines under the car have to be steel bundy tube.

5/16 - 7.9 mm
3/8 - 9.52 mm

I used the original 1/4 line as purge to the charcoal canister

5/16 feed, and the original 1200 fuel line as the return - pretty stock motor....yet to be tested.

Could find anywhere to buy 3/8 bundy tube in SE Melb!

But I think even 5/16 on a 044 Bosch pump will be double what I actually need.

I'm using 5/16 without drama on a mildly modified CA putting out just over 160rwkw.

cheers guys, also another thing with regards to fuel. Im thinkin about running a surge tank with a facet to supply the surge tank and a bosh 044 to supply the motor! is this sufficient?

044 might be a big noisy. That's the biggest problem.
A small facet should be fine (edit: for a lift pump). 90% of your fuel will come from the return line under most conditions if the return line is correctly plumbed to the surge tank. STandard EFI diameter Bundy tube is fine. 3/8 is overkill on everything except a turbo rotary.

Hey Hotrocket, please check with engineer about the alloy fuel line when running EFI pressures.
I think I remember hearing it's not legal. I know it's easier to fit bend and fit though ..

Until you provide an idea of the power level you are chasing our answers will be nothing more than guesswork.

What I can tell you is that the Bosch 040 intank pump I am running in the factory mounting position of my R31 tank will comfortably support 180rwkw.

For what it's worth 170rwkw is quite achievable on a standard motor with a 200SX T28, chipped ECU, exhaust and 18psi.

This figure obviously depends on the condition of the motor, quality of modifications and how happy the dyno is.
