#1 Project Encouragement Thread
DatsAndy Posted on: 2009/5/21 11:14
Just felt a need to start a thread dedicated to all those with projects going on. We see people pushing others to sell but not a lot of people pushing others to kick on and finish the job. So get out in ya sheds and get into it love to see more finished cars including my own on the site. Unfinished projects for sale is a sad sight not always avoidable but sad none the less. Kick On Peoples And Don't think to much about what needs doing just do what ya can in the time you've got. Regards DatsAndy Datto's For Life.

Good call Andy

I nearly gave up on mine a few times, but looked back at what I had achieved and just let the car sit there till the situation improved.

Took me 7 years to get the car to where it is now. Owes me S#@t load of money and have to store it in parents shed till December. So cant drive it or work on it. But I aint selling it. Coz I will never be able to build another street machine till my mid life crisis and the kids are gone.

hey I was getting ready to start a build on a 1200 ute but I recently got told that a sr20det can't be registered in nsw, and I was really looking forward to it but now I dunno what to do.. can anyone let me know if it is possible to rego it or what's the next best thing?? cheers

Well that's debatable according to some but its not debatable that you can engineer a CA18DET in NSW.

oh ok so ca18det for sure but maybe not the sr... I have read a fair bit on it and it looks like the ultimate thing but the damn laws keep changing, is it because of the power to weight?? if so could u just tune it right down maybe?

In simple terms its about power to weight but there is more to it and im not the guy to ask as im far from the expert.The RTA has a technical number and a list of vehicle mods that can be engineered. There are many CA18DET 1200's engineered in NSW that's the proof and not many if any SR20DET in NSW turbos add like 400cc to the motor I'm told and the max capacity last time i checked for 1200 in NSW is 2.2 litre so on that theory SR20Det is 2.4 litre. Ring some engineers on your local RTA's list of Engineers they will know. Keep on with the datto mate theres an engine for you and your car.

I, like most peoples with car projects seem to find humps in the way that just manage to piss you off.

I still need a shed yet!, but that is coming. Its just one of those thigs that takes time. Still waiting on council at this stage, and Dundee, I know I am still behind on the hoist race, but Im catching up!

My Daisy is still at the panel beaters. I need to raise $2500 for the work he has done so far so that I can get it back.

In the end, I follow that mantra of;
If its easy, its not worth achieving.

Keep on with the projects peoples. Weather its a granny spec, JDM, sleeper or wild, or some frankenstien incarnation its always worth the effort.

Rock on..
