1200 ute, fuel tank question.

Hi guys, my name is Samm, i´ve registered a few time ago but till now i'm frequently visiting the forum.
I know you all can help me with this.. ¿Does the fuel tank of 1200 ute has any bypass on it, that lets the air in with suction but won't the fuel vapor out? The question pops out, cause i bought the original fuel tank cap, suddenly the tank became completly sealed, this caused an engine stop because the fuel pump could not suck any more fuel. when i released the cap it was liked vacuumed creating suction into the fuel tank, after removing it the car started normally. So i need to know if it really has any way to let air in but not to let fuel vapors out thanks for your help guys.. i'm gonna be around here for a long time and introduce my ute too. ![]()

Do not drill the cap. I will cause a leak.
No 1200 cap is designed to let the vapor out 1200 caps are not vented. * Early caps are 100% sealed, tank vents via hose loop * Later caps have vacuum relief. They let air in, but not out. Tank vents via valve in engine compartment. ![]() Regular cap vs. Relief cap Also see Fuel Tank Venting

whoa.. nice info.. that's exactly the regular cap i've bought. so, i'll check out the hose loop.
Thanks for the info!!i think my 1200 use the EVAPO system.

Newer 1200 pickups (1978?) use EVAPO instead of a hose loop.

non-EVAPO tanks have a vent hose on the top of the tank. The hose goes up into the body and loops back down to the ground. It is just for venting.
Aussies, how are your ute tanks vented? You can view topic.
