Broken Axle - Help

Howdy,
I have a H165 diff in my 1200 coupe and I have spun the spline out of the diff centre carrier and off the end of an axle. So I now need to hunt down a centre and an axle. The question is what car / ute / van is the diff out of? This is what I know. . . . H165 centre Diff width. Drive flange to Drive flange = 1340mm Axle length. Drive flange to end = 645mm (both the same length) Axle splines = 23 So does this ring a bell with anyone? Does anyone know what it is out of? I would like to be able to go to the wreckers and give them a Model and year. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Geoff

Sounds like a diff out of a late 1200 ute by the lenght. A series one bluebird will have a centre you can use or some vannetes as well as the 1200 ute. The axel will be specific to a 1200 ute and good luck with getting one only from a wrecker. But stranger things have happened...

Model 910 [Bluebird, series 1 & 2.
4 Door Sedan with 4 speed gearbox. H165 in 3.7 to 1 ratio Station wagon with 4 speed gearbox. H190 in 3.9 to 1 ratio All other Sedans & Wagons with Auto or 5 speed gearbox. H165 in 3.9 to 1 ratio. From memory it's 74-76 onwards had the H165, might be easier to find one on this site than at a wreckers.

Was the center damaged? The side gear can be replaced unless your CRP was somehow damaged.

Howdy,
I have a spare diff centre and am hoping it won't be to hard to change the crown and pinion over so I can keep my 4.875 ratio. Thanks to your help I think this is what it is: 1978 Datsun 1200 ute diff with a H165B centre (4.11 ratio in australia) Nissan can supply me with new axles, Ex Japan shaft assy-rear axle part # NI-38162-G1000 $359.05 Each It's good to know they are avaliable new, but for that price I might keep looking for second hand a little longer. Cheers, Geoff

Sounds like you need a whole ute rear end .You should end up with a spare axle as well as a centre to put you 4.875 gear set on.Look after 4.875 gear set as they are near impossible to find.
Cheers bob

Thanks must go out to JMAC for offering to sell me a pair of 1200 ute axles.
JMAC sold them to me for a very resonable price and organised freight from his end. Thanks again JMAC, as I know you would have had to go to some trouble and effort to help me out. This is what this forum is all about, people helping people. Thanks Geoff You can view topic.
