I have a problem with my brakes and wondering for more knowledge on the situation. I have been informed that the front brakes are Disc brakes, and the rear are Drum. The brakes don't seem to release the pressure and the front lock up to the point it's un driveable. I'm fairly new to the ute, and this isn't the only problem I've come to find!

Do they release after a few seconds if you leave the pedal alone? If so the flexable lines to the fronts are stuffed would be my guess. Sounds like the inner lining of the hose hase laminated and is closing of the return fluid flow. Let me know if you need new parts to fix it I should be able to help out.

if you dont know the difference between disk brakes and drum, you should go to a qualified mechanic with your problems

Next guess is siezed wheel cylinders. If you are not confident in being able to fix it yourself, abrake specilist would be the go. If you can't get it to one I am sure that we can help you out. Don't be half-hearted with brakes! Cutting corners or not getting it right is in most cases FATAL!! I don't know your location but if you need some ideas or help, even a talk through give me a call. The thought of someone out there with crook brakes scares the living s##t out of me. I have worked to many accident scenes.

Thanks for your help. Main reason is it's not my car, it's my bf. I'm not good with explaining cause I have little knowledge (learning), so cheers for info. We just got a 120Y coupe for $200 and were thinking of exchanging parts to ute. Seems we got a deal so going to use the couple instead of ute as it has way less problems to fix. I may ask more questions on the coupe later and thanks again for the help.

has it just had disk brake struts fitted to it? If so, it's going to need the residual pressure valve removing from the master cylinder. this will cause the problem you are describing.
