Went into king Edward park after work, and all i saw wa everyone on their way home by the look of it. I think the rain would have had somthing to do with it.
I did see a few Dato 1200 on trailers though, a couple of coupe's and a sedan. Hopfully the weather will be better tomorrow than it was today, hopfully i'll be able to catch the local Dato's in action.

If you go to the Brindabella Motorsport site (www.bmsc.com.au) & check out the australian rallying discussion sub forum, theres a thread on the Mattara Hillclimb at King Edward Park that has a link to photos of most of the field (http://www.bmsc.com.au/forums/austral ... 46-mattara-hillclimb.html).
There are 2 1200 coupes & a Stanza sedan featured, in fact the blue coupe is Grant Liddell, who is the current Australian champ for Improved Production 0-1600 cc's. These photos are of the people doing the state championship. The Monday event is for local competitors. Theres also some good photos on the MG Newcastle car club website www.mgcarclub.com.au, plus some video showing a Honda Civic getting it wrong in the Pinch. The 1st major problem for the Mattara event is that the row of houses along the top of the park is prime residential property & the owners in the last 10 years have started objecting to the event, which has been running for more than 50 years. They have gone so far as to buy noise meters & put them on their balconys. It's a bit hard to have a quiet, nitro-methane burning, supercharged open wheeler. The 2nd problem is that land slippage at the bottom of the track has caused them to move the startline, so you aren't flat out in top gear heading towards the Bogie Hole anymore. Now that was a balls out corner. There's not the frill of going round that right hander at about 80-100 k's,with a big hole to your right & a sandstone wall to your left.It also cuts down on the entry speed to the Pinch, which is really a walking track lined with sandbags, with a mean left hook at the end. There's a little hump just before the left hander, which unloads the suspension & causes all sorts of trouble. Real old school sort of place, where the risks were there to add flavour & made you respect the place, not these days where it's safe to over-drive because there's nothing to hit. Real Death on a Stick. Try this short cut for those photos http://www.turonphotography.com/mattara/

If anybody wants to put some names to drivers, they can go to www.hillclimbnsw.com, there are some thumbs of the cars with driver names, plus theres a PDF of the registered competitors with their race numbers & the car type. The Silver Auto Union type car with the Jaguar engine is owned & built by Malcolm Oastler, who was a designer in Formula 1. It's just as impressive in real life, & sounds magnificant.
