hi my a12 wont rev past 5000 rpm wat can i do to ring the titts off it, dont really want to spend money just a bit more go and rev

must be timing or carby, cause you got spark and fuel.

you still using the webber or back t stock?

i find that if i actually have a long enough straight line i can get mine to about 6500, i haven't tried for more cause noise and rattles are a little scary, besides that is where the factory says it makes its whole 69hp.
i would guess at a timing or fuel prob too, mine is bog standard and can get it to there.

thanks to tommo it now will rev to 5500 thats as far as ive pushed it but it does get to 95mile lol :)

Mine does the same thing! It can't rev past 5k with a 32/36 weber. Hoe do I fix this? I've got a brand new pump laying around at home, new plugs, points and leads. Timings adavanced 8. Stock standard motor other than the weber.

In 1990, My bog stock 200,000mi A12 revved to 6600 in 4th, with standard fuel and carby.

I used a digital tacho (quite hi-tech for the time).

My coupe will rev out to about 8500 but its been balanced and has two 42 mm webers and electronic ignition. and the head has double valve springs and larger inlets.

I'm not surprised that it won't rev much past 5000... The stock valve springs are soft enough to compress by hand!

Yes. Even 40 year old stock valve springs will rev to 6000+.

it's probably the distributor timing ... he may have it retarded.
