#1 determine my 1/4 mile time
ca18datsun Posted on: 2010/3/25 7:50
ive been really busy and havent had the chance to drag, i own a 120y ute ca18det with:
turbo - garret GT25bb rated to 400hp
ECU - e8 haltech
transmission - 5 speed ca18 box
tyres - 15" low profile
diff - r31
clutch - ?-not sure, sorry.
exhaust - 3" all the way through
car weighs aprox. 920kg
power output aprox. 130kw atw.
i know its impossible to tell and alot of other facters are involved, so just have a guess for my sake.
i plan on running the turbo on max boost, because im not sure on what the max save boost is, whatever you think it would be just add it in your post.
eg. 25 seconds @ 400mph with 5psi boost

16 seconds and only put it at 11psi unles you have spent thousands on pistons and internal wat not.... my ute with a 13b carbi runs 13secs and its not even turbo, i just put exhaust and weber, anyways keep it up

16 seems a bit high.

that seems high to me too, hear me out...
an r32 gtr that weighs 1430kg(if not more) and has a power output of 206kw atw does a 1/4 mile in aprox. 13.0 seconds.
if you divide 1430 (the weight) by 206 (the power) you get a power to weight ratio 1:6.9 (kw/kg).
now with my 120y... divide 920(weight) by 130(power) and that equals 1:7.1
(thats only 0.2kg heavier per kw different)
...look i know torque is also involved, but even then i really dont think there's a 3 second difference.

I swear by this thing quarter mile calc
Compared it to quite a few recorded times around datsun1200 and a few cars I have owned (by manufacturers specs), seems pretty spot on.

I believe you have never seen one.

They were sold in South Africa, and were a 1200 ute but with 120Y badges.

thanks for the feedback guys, just for the record:
i do live in australia and my rego papers/mod plate refer to my ute as a 120y. tho im not sure where the car was manufactured or originally sold.
ive checked and compared the et 1/4 mile calculator and it does seem to be strangely accurate.
