as listed above the A12 doesnt ilde the best. any advise on this topic, could it be a slight timming adjustment or jets? i do believe im running standard jets( 2L escort)
the base carby was soaked in fuel, it was running for 5mins cheers!

When you say soaked in fuel - do you mean that you soaked it in fuel to clean it up a bit before installation - or do you mean that it idled rough and the carb ended up covered in fuel?
I'm assuming it's the second one, and by that description, the big standout most likely cause is teh needle and seat is worn out and won't seal, and/or (they are both of the same ilk, either one equals same result) the float height isn't set correctly and it can't close the needle and seat and it's flooding the fuel bowl.. Still on the same track - if the float height is right and needle and seat isn't worn with a noticeable ridge, then is there any chance the fuel pressure is too high at idle, and it's overwhelming the needle and seat and floats ability to close off the flow when the fuel bowl is full. After all that is done, you'd probably still need to look at the idle circuit, considering the difference in capacity, but it'd _probably_ still run (just not great) meaning it's more likely the float/needle and seat related issues.

my weber didnt idle when i put it on my A14 so i pulled it apart and cleaned every single little part and jet out and put a new fuel filter and line on it from the fuel pump and this fixed the problem, and there should be an idle adjustment screw in the lower right hand side of the carby (from front of the motor )and if you screw this in it will drop the idle down but if you screw it out it will let more fuel in and will idle higher ,i thought a holley would of been more ideal for a S/C as they are easyer to tune but a weber would go better
oh and ive heard of webers needing a moulded plastic or reinforced fuel float ,because they can sometimes leak fuel into the float and will hold the needle and seat open and flood the carby oh are you running a blow through system or a draw through ? im keen on this setup for my A14 and was wondering where you got the S/C from and how much roughly and how hard it was to bolt on /mount ?

at idle the gaskett at the base of the carby was soaked in fuel after 5 mins of running. i rebult the carby, did check the float hight cause it came off a running car. its a draw though set up. im running a EFI pump cause of the charger. i was told the pump is good for 5-6 PSI, for memory.
its a easy mod i guess its really my first 1. i had to relocate the ALT to the otherside of the motor, remove the mechanical fuel pump and block off the hole in the block. than use the same bracket as the ALT(mine was on the drivers side) bolts up the same just need a few washers to take up the extra space. later this weekend i will put a few photos up

See if you can get use of a fuel pressure guage and put it on there, it's possibly flooding the carb, no way to know without measuring pressure. If it is an efi pump, it's probably putting out over 30psi, possibly well over it.

EFI pump is the issue for sure.
Just get a cheap facet electric pump and a pressure regulator (if you dont have one).

well i got it to idle a hell of a lot better, changed the plugs and during removal found that they where carboned up beond cleaning. i replaced them and that mad a massive differance. the only thing is i think it still is a little ruff at ilde cause its cold. i cant get it to idle below what i think is 1500-1800RPM. it starts to surge. then when i switch the motor off(doesnt run on) the pressure of the pump is slowing pushing past or though somewhere.
i will take it for a spin later this week. just putting the S/C tensioner on now.

it idel will change if the sc is on/off to
i ran std mechanical pump wit mine and it did fine :P id look at the idle jets and see wat size they are i never had a problem wit idle just with running out top end or flooding. what type of choak is on the 32/36?? water or mechanical?? does it still have the top butterflies and are they connected??

no choke and no the butterflys arnt attached at the top of the carby, werent there when i bought it. where should it be idling? i couldnt use a mech feul pump canuse the S/C hitted the pump so i had to take it out and block it off.

got it to idle by fixing a few air leaks.
went to drive it and at first didnt have any go at all just stalled. started it back up and then seemed ok, blew a bit of smoke(not sure what colour). at the higher RPM range it rattled(believe it was pinging). i will T in a fuel pressure gague, does anyone know what pressure it should be? does anyone know what jet they or anyone used for this set up? there is a swishing noise, think its fuel in the bottom of the charger.
