#1 DCOE or DHLA whats the difference????

Hi guys im just eyeing a pair of dhla carbs on ebay, how do they differ from a dcoe and do they use the same manifold???
they would go on a a14.

Same bolt pattern.

They (DHLA)differ in function, in terms of how they operate to produce fuel/air mix. People will argue which is better. But it's a matter of choice. Dellortoes tend to be cheaper, Solex Mikuni's even moreso.

Dellorto DHLA & Weber DCOE parts are relatively easy to obtain on the Aussie market, not so much for the Solex Mikuni's.

For price and part availability you can't compete with Dellortoes.

To get full the complete Japanese kit go for Solex Mikuni 40PHH as they are made in Japan.

DHLA = dellorto sidedraft
DCOE = weber sidedraft

same manifold thank god.

One thing I'd like to mention is the fact that Solex Mikuni Type-R's have a vaccuum outlet for the vacuum advance on your dizzie. A neat little feature that the other two makes don't have.

If you go for some bike carbs I reckon you could use the vacuum reference lines for your vacuum advance as well.

Oh totaly different brands..... right.
what would you expect to pay for a set of dhla carbs no manifold.
they are on ebay buy it noe 600 or opening bid of 200

In all honesty if I were to offer any advice on the purchase I would suggest that you go for a complete setup, that has come off a running engine, carbs manifold & linkages. I know it looks like alot of money upfront but it is worth it in the long run.....nothing worse than dickin' around with carbies. Well it's fun to learn but it gets annoying when it's keeping you off the road (which is my situation).

If they're in good condition and the jetting isn't too far off then they're worth that price range. Otherwise drop a $200 bid down and the $600 will disappear (it should anyway) and you'll have a better chance of owning them at a cheaper price. But of course be prepared for additional bids later on.

EDIT: Here are some cheap Mikuni Type-T's you just missed out....They're a great carb.

Apparently Dellorto Jets also come in smaller increments than Weber, which might help if youre having problems tuning.

Twin Dellorto sidedraughts were factory fitted to the Datsun 1200 SSS

my solex addhe 40 also have the ported vacuum outlet for the dizzy advance.

$600 in my book would be top dollar for the DHLA's, unless new/rebuilt,
a pair is usually about 2-300, DCOE's tend to be a little more..
