#1 Engine swap questions
Yeedawg043 Posted on: 2010/5/23 23:41
Hi I'm new to this site and I have just purchase my first datsun 1200 fastback. I'm going to rebuild the engine and turbo it. I have a a12 in here now. Is there another engine I can put in the car without any major mods. Thank you

Yes it will bolt up to the Datsun 1200 transmission.

But it will break with the larger engine turbocharged. Best to get a transmission for the A14/A15, in other words get engine & transmission pair.

where in cali are you located? i live in westminster, CA. also, it would be better to go with A14/15. the ammount of money you will spend modding the A12, it would be better to go to one one the larger ones

Thank you. That is very good to know. I don't want to spend extra money if I don't have to. I live in Hayward in the bay area. Now it's just a matter of locating a engine for sale

Does it matter what year the engine is?

you can buy a brand new A15 from nissan but the cam will need to be changed and this woul;d be a great engine to start of with ,and for a box i would go with a 60A and the standard box wont take the torque of an A14 or 15
